Visions.. Anointing… Callings… How exciting when we hear from God about something – whether it be in our personal life or for ministry or for someone else. We ever so often we apply the secular approach – we map out what is supposed to be done and we just go for it… we make it happen.
We try to interpret what we hear. we filter it according to our limitations, resources, expectations, understanding, experiences, wisdom etc… and then we run with it in the way we have grasped it.
I think back of all the prophecies in the Bible regarding the first and second coming of Jesus. Couldn’t God simply snapped His fingers and sent Jesus in a jiffy. Why did God wait not for days nor months nor years let alone centuries but rather MILLENIUMS for the first coming? It’s already been over 2000 years since that – where is the SOON that Jesus was going on about?
I was thinking of Joseph. He was only 17 when he saw those controversial dreams that led to his brothers hating him to the point of eliminating him from the family scene. What a dreamer to think that the youngest would rule over the older ones? It wasn’t the cultural tradition – the FIRST BORN was the ‘special’ one.. well APPARENTLY not so in God’s eyes. He knew he was called to lead over them – and despite many people interpreting Joseph’ repeating the dreams to his family as ‘boasting’, I believe he was excitedly revealing what God was saying. It wasn’t about him. This is what caused the wild goose chase in his life but even though the brothers initiated that stage for him meaning harm, God turned it around for good. It is in the sequence of events that Joseph got his introductions and ‘networking’.
Haaa yes, he was CALLED to RULE, God made it clear to him… yet Joseph found himsel f in places that were the OPPOSITE to ‘ruling’. If his brothers had been around to see that at the time, I’m sure they would have happily mocked him along the lines of ‘oh yeah… you were gonna rule right?’. (This is merely speculation, not what the Bible says.. just wanted to get a grasp of the situation). Eventually, I think roughly about 13 years later, Joseph found himself in the place where God had showed him.. ruling over his family. Would he have ever dreamt – as he was being led further and further away from home – that he would rule over Egypt, a foreign land? Imagine if he had thought why should I operate in the prophetic interpretation while being in prison – I’m called to rule…
Think of David. He was ANOINTED while he was still a shepherd boy – in fact he was on the field as his father didn’t think this youngest of the lot would be a likely candidate to be king. Young and shepherding.. How could that qualify to be KING? It wasn’t about qualifications after all – not in God’s Kingdom Not long after this, David was taken to the PALACE.. yes, to the place where his calling was… Despite already being anointed, the time hadn’t come yet for David to step in. Like Joseph, he was also taken in opposite directions and sent all over town.
Our life as believers, is about our INTIMACY with God.. our relationship that deepens with Him, the restoration and change in us that happens through this intimacy.. and from that stems ‘ministry’.
It’s all about the process of how God beckons us to intimacy, how much we yield, how much we love Him regardless of the seen progress or lack of it, how much we are transforming, and how committed we are to obeying Him and carrying it out in His time – are we still passionate about what He shows despite the tarrying, despite the impossibility that we perceive…
We look at TIME from the perspective our life on earth..
which is merely a SPECK on the timeline of ETERNITY!
For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay – Habakkuk 2:3
God has an APPOINTED time.. A pregnant mother has to go through the 10 months child bearing time to give birth to a healthy baby even if she has already had a child before. The preparation is necessary… God has HIS appointed time.

Waiting upon God is hard for a human doing.. but as our faith increases, we realise MORE is achieved by being… by WAITING on HIM for His time, His provision, in His way – which will be way way way better than using our fleshly limited wisdom.,
But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently – Romans 8:25
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes – Psalm 37:37
But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold – Psalm 106:13
