The Murder … the Lone Eagle

I noticed an eagle circling steadily in mid air.  (Those are the times I wish I had a manual camera to zoom in and capture in detail – not that I know whether I can handle the camera or not!).  As I gazed at it from the balcony, a few floors high, I noticed a murder (I’m so fascinated with the fact that the group of crows is called a murder) scurrying in flight.  Yes, I instantly realised the rains were going to hit.  As the crows were flapping their wings so fast to ‘escape’ the strong winds and the downpour ahead,  the eagle continued its circling without a single flap of the wings.. similar to how something would drift on sea.  Yet this was with DIRECTION unlike the object that drifts along with the tidal waves.

The wind began to blow harder and the eagle gracefully used the very friction that the crows were escaping to SOAR HIGH.  It was simply a scene of magnificence  for loss of a better word.

As I reflect on what my eyes and brain took in, I realised the crows were in fear despite being in a GROUP but the eagle was ALONE and yet it was calm and strong, FACING THE BATTLE by USING the very thing that was threatening to overpower.  Yet the threat was TRAMPLED UPON as it went higher than that instead.

I sense God saying that as we find our love and security in HIM, no matter what obstacles and trials come our way, we RISE ABOVE it through HIM… We are not like the crows in a group and with much anxiety and fear and trembling, keep flapping flapping away.. We are the SOLITARY eagles in HIM… who steadily keep soaring in HIM despite the opposing factors that present themselves.  God gives us the strength to use the very things that come against us,  to rise above them and TRAMPLE those things!  Fear will take over those things and be sent flapping away!

Yes there may be crying for a season, but we SOAR with an increasing sense of mightiness through HIS grace which carries us through.

Peter was able to conquer (walk on water) when his eyes were fixed on Jesus.  Yet the moment his gaze shifted to the storms, he began to panic and sink… No we are not sinkers.. we are RISERS.. The storms don’t scare us and send us flapping away.. We choose to increasingly ignore the storms that are in our face and FIX OUR GAZE on Jesus.  His grace makes us SOAR even if ALONE like the eagle with that steadiness.

Oh Father give us YOUR grace and open our eyes so we continue to see in the spiritual realms, helping us to unlearn the things the world has taught us, so that we don’t conform to the MURDER so that we no longer conform to the ways of the world but that we are TRANSFORMED by the renewing of OUR MINDS and that we then KNOW Your perfect and pleasing will for our lives!  In the matchless name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for Me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” – Mark 10:29-31

Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— ….. who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. – Psalm 103:5,6
