I love trekking.. that’s one of the many things I miss about being back in Kiwiland! New Zealand sure is paradise.. whether it be trekking through the rainforests in their all consuming beauty or whether it’s climbing the mountains or dead volcanoes.
The featured image is me standing on top of the Bible Rock here in the second most beautiful country of the world – in my opinion at least. Yes, I’m partial. I’m a New Zealander by nationality and an “ex” Sri Lankan, the place of my birth and my ancestors.
Bible Rock isn’t that steep.. but we did climb! We conquered! (Yes conquered a molehill compared to my brother conquering the climb of Mount Kilimanjaro. Now I agree, THAT is conquering!).
A few days ago, I saw a quotation on a friend Shaltiel Shirley’s fb.
It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves – Anon
How profound. We can’t conquer the mountain.. we can’t reach to the top if we first don’t conquer ourselves – conquer our minds, our thoughts, our fears and come to a resolution to JUST DO IT. We may need help along the way – whether to hold our hand, to pull us up, a sip of water, a stick (like the one I’m holding in the picture) to give the support… (oh yes, I had an excuse.. I had a bad knee at the time! LOL).
Life presents so many situations like this.. in our daily lives we need to conquer fears and emotional set backs whether it is to enter into a relationship or to step out of our comfort zones into the calling of God or whatever it is that God is nudging us to do.
In order to conquer these fears and emotional set backs, we need to use ‘aids’.. and we have the strongest never failing helping hand available! If only we would put our little hand into THE hand… if only we would remember that His righteous right hand supports us by holding us.. if only we would remember that we could drink of the living water.. if only we would abide in the Vine of Jesus..
then the fruit of the Spirit begins to yield.. it brings healing and revival and refreshing of our souls and our minds and our emotions..
The fruit increases while the acts of the fleshly nature decreases.. the fears, the doubts, the emotional set backs don’t hold us back but we learn to conquer them.. and then the mountains are nothing but molehills in our sight. Perhaps the mountains don’t exist anymore too!
Whether to scale it or to go around it or to see it shrink or disappear completely.. trust in the One who has called you to it.. and He will see you through it!
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze – Isaiah 43:2
Are you going to conquer yourselves by trusting the One who called you to it?
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose – Romans 8:28
No chain is difficult to be broken by God.. if you will let Him! Are you willing to conquer the mountain? Then put your hand in His today and ABIDE IN HIM!
