I believe this is a ‘word’ for some people out there…
Recently, I saw a vision of an opened bag of garbage. It was disgusting with infested worms slithering through the pile of ‘treasure’ – for the worms it was treasure!
Garbage – whether perishable items or not, will either rot or decay or even if it does not completely become formless it will lose its original form.
A number of us keep ‘garbage’ (things that are not wanted and need to be disposed of) in our minds and hearts. We hoard onto these things – whether it be hurt that others have caused us, weariness, panic, fears, negative traumatic experiences… and we tie up this garbage bag of negativity and close it up. We often think that gets rid of it and push it away from the surface to the deep deep dark chambers of our hearts and minds – to be ‘forgotten’.
It never gets ‘forgotten’ that way as it causes more damage and harm with negative emotions being manifested, stirred up and coming to the surface… All the ‘garbage’ is now meshing with the other garbage items too, not individual experiences and somewhere along the line there is a ‘blur’. More negative emotions that are detrimental are caused as a result of it causing our forms to lose shape eventually due to sicknesses whether emotionally or physically. Bitterness, hate, envy, immense unhealthy anger, extreme panic attacks are examples of such negative emotions.
We don’t lump our garbage and chuck it out but rather we sort them out into perishable, recyclable, metals, etc. In the process we are ‘dealing’ with each one and getting rid of what needs to be gotten rid of, not holding it in our dwelling places.. and what can be recycled, is recycled to bring out something positive out of the ‘old’ or ‘unusable’ items in their current forms.
Likewise we need to DEAL with EVERY single negative experience. Many love to advise others to ‘FORGET IT’. It cannot be forgotten if not dealt with.. and will cause much harm instead – erupting as a destructive volcano at a future date. The experience won’t necessarily ever be forgotten but how we look at it and how our responses and reactions to it will change.. Situations that are dealt with, are obvious. Negative emotions will be replaced with positivity, hope, blessing the one who caused the situation etc.
When dealing with it, we first EXPRESS ourselves, get it off our chest and out of our systems… We take these experiences to God. David set an example in asking God to search his heart for all anxieties. We allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to us areas of hurts that we are hoarding onto.. to remove the heaviness of our hearts.. and to be set free with joy in our hearts which shows on our faces. Of course, we are humans and this process does take time. Let’s not be impatient with ourselves or others but ensure that small steps forward are being taken consistently.
During the process, we also share these burdens with one another who will listen, then with discernment speak words of encouragement, affirmation while interceding, waging warfare and taking any possible actions of love.
Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting! – Psalm 139:23-24
Be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect – Romans 12:2
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come – 2 Corinthians 5:17
