Wow.. how did 2016 fly by!! This blog began end of November 2011.. I just can’t believe 5 years have been completed. Sometimes it gets tough or I’m not motivated to write to the point of even giving up this blog altogether. At those very times though one of you will write to me saying how the posts have been timely words just speaking to them.. and tell me to never stop writing. That one feedback always encourages me as that was my agreement with God – that it’s not about numbers as long as at least ONE person out there is touched by each post, then that is what matters, that is what counts. I thank God for His inspiration and His intervention and I also thank each one of you readers. Many have taken measures to share these posts on their social media avenues helping the message and God’s Word reach out and touch others and I really want to let you know that it is deeply appreciated so that all the time and resources can be used to truly touch people for His Kingdom!
A quick blog summary before I leave a thought to ponder upon for this first day of the new calendar year.
2016 has seen an all time high of blog views since the inception of this blog. In fact, the total views had been gradually receding from 2012. Thank you for your efforts to spread these reflections to reach out to more globally. There have been views from 94 countries in 2016 (with views around 132 countries over the years). The most number of views have been from the USA, secondly from Sri Lanka and thirdly from India. UK takes 4th place. It’s amazing how the countries keep changing around in the list! The 4 highest views of the blog posts other than from the archives (for which there is no breakdown) has been for the following:
So yes, it’s been a time of being down in the valleys and then struggling to climb up the steep slopes to the mountain tops. Of course nothing is stagnant and somehow the walk back down from that beautiful experience seems to be more sliding down instead of trodding along. But that mountain top experience helps to withstand and strengthen the time in the next valley of life.. It also motivates to move on back right up there.. to draw upon His grace and love and to just immerse in His love.
The valley is like the testing period of truly applying what we learn and seeing what truths – about God and about who we are in HIM – we sincerely have absorbed into our heart and our belief system not just being head knowledge of quoting and reciting BIble verses. If we truly have internalised what we have experienced and truly enjoyed on the mountain top then we will make it through the valleys.
The valley is REAL life and the mountaintop is our time with God.. that we do need to take out time to time regularly to refresh, renew and revive ourselves holistically. Jesus spent time with our Father on the mountaintop and came down the mountains to meet with the people. People don’t live on the peak of the mountain.. and through the highs and lows, the rises and dips there are different climates and different settings – fog layers too perhaps in the midst of the sunshine and the coolness even snow… amidst the rocky surfaces or the pastures!
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’ – Isaiah 52:7
May your feet belong to one as described above and may your tongue and ears be as follows:
The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed – Isaiah 50:4
I wish each one of you a blessed 2017 and to remember that it is the valleys that make you appreciate the mountain tops and motivate you to get moving!! May you be filled with God’s peace this year during the sunshine as well as the storms.
