I love word games… Although Wordament remains my favourite, time to time I do sneak a couple of rounds of the above too. In fact sometimes I sheepishly admit that I amaze myself.. things I never realised I knew would be brought to the surface of my mind, as if retrieving information that was stored deep in the mental database.
There are two versions of the game. One type of the game is where you need to use your coins to get a hint.. and if you are stuck for coins and you simply don’t know the answer, then you are stuck full stop. There is no way out. There is another type of this game though where you are given the option to ‘skip’ a particular round and then come back to it whenever you want. This makes me think and solve it as well as ‘save’ my coins. I obviously opt for the second type 4 Pics 1 Word game. There are also various categories of ‘tests’!
As I was reflecting, I realised that these two types are pretty similar to the ways of the world and the ways of a believer respectively!
The world wants things ‘NOW” and would go to any extent to secure that “WANT”. Things will be sold to secure another… Much time and effort goes into earning the cash to be able to gratify the wants instantaneously. Where there is no cash on hand one is stuck for progress and then they retreat to using the cash that they don’t have.
On the other hand, the believer trusts God and learns to WAIT. It isn’t about NOW as the believer knows that God has a perfect timing! It isn’t about striving to make things happen as the believer knows that where God leads He provides! The believer knows that as he/she spends time in intimacy with God, that the Holy Spirit deposits revelations in their spirits and that at the RIGHT time, these ‘words’ quicken and come alive.. nudging us one step at a time onto the narrow path encouraging, edifying and equipping.
When we walk with God we can never miss the boat let alone ‘block’ the blessings.. as God leads a surrendered heart. Disobedience to what God is telling you is the only way to ‘block’ but Jesus does say, “My sheep know My voice“. So if you are indeed giving HIM priority in your heart, to be the president of your heart and not the resident, then you surely do know what He is telling you.
The Rhema word leaps out right now to His people:
Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way;walk in it.” – Isaiah 30:20,21
No, you have not missed the boat or blocked the blessing if you are hearing His voice nudging you along the way! No, just because you seem to be living on the bread of adversity and the water of affliction doesn’t mean you are not on the right path! Jesus also tells us that in this world we WILL have trouble but assures us not be afraid as He is with us, His peace transcends all understanding.
Don’t try to understand but just follow the leading of the Holy Spirit who is like the wind.. We don’t know which way the wind will blow.. let us surrender to God like a leaf being ushered along by the wind.
Yes, we may have to go to and fro, a step forward and a step backward, we may skip a ‘test’ and take a rest, but we will go back and face that test equipped by revelation and a timely word or vision.. At the end of the day we will not be stuck but rather eventually complete the game of life! Yes we will run the race and persevere!
