A couple of days ago I saw a vision and was praying about it as I didn’t know who it was for. However, right now I feel led to share it with a ‘word’. The message begins to unfold in greater detail as I set out in obedience to write and it’s just incredible how the inspiration is flowing!
I saw a vision of a person ready to write on a clean white-board. The book on a table before the whiteboard was wide open and on that I saw a phrase in Hebrew lettering. I realised that this was the Hebrew Bible and hence the Old Testament. A dove was hovering over the Bible illuminating it.
Glow – light – represents the glory of God, our Heavenly Father. The Bible is God’s Word and that is Jesus Christ.
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth – John 1:14
The dove was hovering around the Bible, symbolic of the Holy Spirit.
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters – Genesis 1:2
Jesus spoke on the Work of the Holy Spirit:
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you – John 14:26
“When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father – the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father – He will testify about Me – John 15:26
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that He will receive what He will make known to you. All the belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from Me what He will make known to you – John 16:13-15
I began to ponder on the significance of the Old Testament in the vision. However, I paused to concentrate on the ‘pen’ in the vision and searched for Biblical references. Was it coincidence that the following caught my eye? I just now re-arranged the order of how I set out to write, giving priority to the second half of the vision first!
For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished – Matthew 5:18
It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law – Luke 16:17
The Old Testament is the prophecy of what is to come with partial fulfilment of it beginning with Jesus Christ coming as flesh to earth and then through Him.
For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit – 2 Peter 1:21
Without the Old Testament, God’s Word isn’t complete. We study it in context of the fact that we are now not under law but under grace as the work of Christ on the cross is complete. However, we seek to fulfill the law summed up in the two greatest commandments that Jesus Christ gave us – not because we HAVE to but because we want to. We live for Him and we are humble to know that our human wisdom cannot even begin to compare with HIS wisdom and He knows what’s best for us.
However, more often than not as humans we want to write the chapters of our lives. For some, it’s always the case. Often we run ahead of God and although we have His Word open nearby us, we continue to create our own stories according to our wills and fleshly desires and fears. In the process we ignore God’s voice and resist the Holy Spirit:
God is warning some of us today:
You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised…. You always resist the Holy Spirit – Acts 7:51
The life of a believer however will have his pen ready to write the pages of his life – word by word, phrase by phrase which marks a new phase of life, not chapter by chapter! We live out our story as inspired by the Holy Spirit. A white board signifies something that is not permanent etching. As it is filled it is erased and a new page begins. The past is forgotten and cleansed.
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past – Isaiah 43:18
See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you – Isaiah 42:9
He announces and how long it takes to fulfill – it all depends on His timing. A prophecy not yet fulfilled is not necessarily a prophecy not uttered or a prophecy that was denied!
- Are you still holding on to the past and perhaps even feeling guilt? Remember feeling guilty for something that God has already forgiven by sending His one and only precious Son to the cross to shed innocent blood on behalf of you is like you don’t BELIEVE it has happened! He has forgiven the past and now you are washed as white as snow!
- Where do you stand in regards to planning your life? How do you go about it? Have you got your whole book of life mapped out and walking according to your schedule? Do you perhaps have the Bible close by to you with the pages open saying you have surrendered your life to Him but nonetheless the Bible pages remain open and your pen writes the way you want?
- Do you have your pen ready to write down the next PHRASE of your life to mark the new PHASE? Are your ears tuned to hear His still small voice to ERASE when you have run ahead resisting the Holy Spirit or when you have held back without writing in fear of the unknown and thus also resisting the Holy Spirit? How are you responding to the prophecies that God has spoken over YOUR life?
So, as the Holy Spirit says:
Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts……. See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called TODAY, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end – Hebrew 3:7-14
- Is the book of your life in sync with God’s Word being illuminate by the Holy Spirit giving the Father His glory?
