Without Excuse!

I was observing the ships on the horizon, where it seems as if though the sea meets the sky, yet so far, far away!  My gaze shifted upwards and my thoughts pondered on travelling via air.  It is incredible how these avenues have been explored.  Man has learnt how to utilise the media that God has blessed us with.  The bright blue sky with the puffy cotton like clouds and the wide spread waters with waves approaching the shore with white foamy edges…. how magnificent!  Yes, man has learnt how to navigate around these.  The intelligence and wisdom of man is revealed.

However, is man able to create these waves or the clouds that adorn the sea and the sky?  Is man able to create let alone control the tempest storms, the blinding lightning and heart pounding thunder, the swirling tornadoes, the forceful hurricanes, the raging tsunamis, the mudslides, the earthquakes… the list expands.  We are witnessing ‘natural disasters’ as we call them, ever increasingly on earth.  Man can take measures to perhaps escape from them, but can man stop them?  God has indeed blessed us with wisdom and intelligence.  However these events should serve as reminders to us that our capacities pale in the expanse of His unlimited wisdom, intelligence and POWER.

In fact we human beings are life on earth.  Earth is such a planet in one of the millions of universes.  So can we be compared to a speck of dust in the scheme of creation?  (The comparison being suggested is in ratio of size alone!) We can’t discount the fact that there is indeed a God, for that matter THE one and only God.

“For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made,

so that men are without excuse” (Romans 1:20).

We need air and water for our survival, for our mere existence.  God has blessed us with these elements.  However, can man create them?  God “spoke” and the universes and all that is in them were created (Genesis chapter 1).  From nothing, the universes came into existence!  How awesome is His power?  Can we even begin to compare ourselves – our wisdom, our achievements, our good deeds …. – with God Almighty?

Why is it that we who are unable to create let alone control nature – which is of course God’s masterpiece – think so highly of ourselves?  Why do we focus on the problems of tomorrow and get anxious?  IF we truly believed in Him, would we want to take matters into our own hands?  In fact, we often ruin His plan for our lives as we do things according to our limited wisdom!

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8).

Have you been discounting God’s existence?  What do you think know?  God is inviting you to embrace you as He loves you! Yes, You!

Have you been wondering whether God loves you and cares for you?  Think again!

Are you relying on your own strength – just take a look around you and observe His handiwork!!  Think again!

Let’s think twice before we decide that WE need to DO something because it’s really saying we know better than God – better than this Sovereign Almighty Omnipresent One and Only True God!

“Be Still and know that I am God!” (Psalm 46:10).

It isn’t about D.I.Y. (do it yourselves) but rather BE STILL… and know that I am God – not you!

(There is a time to DO, I’m not discounting that… but we need to seek God when to DO and when to be STILL)

The best part is… regardless of the mighty powers of God’s creation that man cannot create let alone control, God loves each one of us mere mortal man and knows us by name.
